MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom has called Luis Rodriguez, most beloved citizen to his eternal reward, March 19, 2014; and
 
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable John A. Pope, Alderman ofthe 10th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, Born on January 11, 1969 in Chicago, Illinois, Luis was the sixth of seven children born to Jose and Isabelle Rodriguez; and
WHEREAS, Luis attended Sullivan elementary school and Bowen high school where he was lovingly called "Louie" by his friends; and
WHEREAS, "Louie" was a devoted Chicago Bears fan and White Sox fan who had the pleasure of working as a security guard at both soldier field and U.S. Cellular field; and
WHEREAS, In 2000, "Louie" began his occupation as a Security Guard with the Chicago Public Schools. In 2003, he was placed at Marsh School where he was recognized for his dedication to coaching youth sports. In 2004, "Louie" coached a city wide championship softball team of 7th and 8"' graders. He was a mentor and father figure to a number of young students who looked up to him; and
WHEREAS, "Louie" met his beautiful wife Vickie Garcia Rodriguez in 2003. He was a dedicated stepfather to her three children: Juliet, Madeline and Joseph. "Louie" and Vickie were later blessed with three more children: Destiny, Mia and Victor; and
WHEREAS, "Louie" is best described as a gentle man with a kind and giving heart. Everyone who knew him, personally or professionally, loved and respected him as a good man. He loved and valued, protected and provided for his family; and
WHEREAS, "Louie" leaves to cherish the memory of his life his wife Vickie Garcia Rodriguez, his siblings, nephews and nieces and his six children along with the neighborhood school children/parents, past and present co-workers and friends; and
 
WHEREAS, "Louie" touched the lives of all who knew him through his generosity, unconditional love and his spirit. He will be deeply missed but the remembrance of his character, skill, and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him - especially his wife Vickie; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered hereithis eighth day of October, 2014 A.D., do hereby extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Luis Rodriguez as we join his many loved ones in mourning his passing, and we hereby honor his life and memory.
 
Be It Further Resolved, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Luis Rodriguez.
