RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Pursuant to the Illinois Election Code, 10 ILCS 5/28-1, et seq., and the Illinois Municipal Code, 65 ILCS 5/1-1-8, the corporate authorities of a municipality have the authority to submit public questions to the electors of the municipality by means of a referendum; and
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Chicago ("City Council") hereby intends to submit to the residents of the City of Chicago ("City") three public questions of city-wide significance; and
WHEREAS, The City Council believes it is in the best interest of the residents of the City to move as expeditiously as possible to submit these propositions to the voters at the next regularly scheduled municipal general election to be held on February 24, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Resolution SR2014-636, passed by the City Council by a vote of 50-0 on October 8, 2014, authorized the submission of three public questions to the voters of the City at the next regularly scheduled municipal general election to be held on February 24, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Because the City Council wishes to ensure that the City's citizens have an opportunity to vote on the three issues set forth in Resolution SR2014-636, and due to an abundance of caution regarding technical concerns in conjunction with the passage of Resolution SR2014-636, the City Council finds it prudent to withdraw Resolution SR2014-636 and replace it in its entirety with this resolution; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
Section 1. The above recitals are expressly incorporated herein and made part hereof as though fully set forth herein.
Section 2. Resolution SR2014-636 is hereby withdrawn and replaced in its entirety with this resolution.
Section 3. The City Council of the City of Chicago does hereby initiate and authorize the following public questions to be submitted to the voters of the entire City of Chicago at the regularly scheduled municipal general election next occurring after the effective d...
