This is to notify you ofthe following facts concerning a "mass layoff pursuant to the provisions of the Illinois WARN Act:
  1. The affected employees are employees of Northwest Sewing Machine Exchange, Inc. d/b/a Continental Furniture at its store and offices at 1425 North Milwaukee Avenue and 2743 West 36th Place, Chicago, IL.
  2. The Company officer to contact for further information is Mitchell Portugal, Company President, who can be reached at (773) 890-4150.
  3. The layoff will occur between January 20, 2015 and February 14, 2015. Employees have been notified of their specific expected date of layoff within this time frame.
  4. There are 33 full time employees expected to be laid off between these two locations.
  5. You are also advised that employees of one affiliated entity (Continental Furniture South, Inc. at 2719 West Cermak Road, Chicago, IL) will also be laid off during approximately the same time period. This entity is expected to lay off 15 full time employees. Mr. Portugal can also be contacted for additional information concerning these layoffs.
