MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Gcxl in His Infinite Wisdom has called Mary Ella McCoy, affectionately known as "Momma", most beloved citizen to her eternal reward, October 26, 2014, and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Hmma Mitts, Alderman ofthe 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ella was born on September 1, 1914 to the late Elias and Martha Fairman in Brookhaven, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, At an early age in her hometown, Mary confessed Christ in her life at Siloni M.B. Church; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ella met and married the love of her life, the late Percy McCoy. Five children were born to their union: Willie D.; Percy, who preceded her in death; Alma Rca: Bessie and Mary Helen. By the early 1960's the entire family had migrated to Chicago for a better life; and
WHEREAS, After working 10 years at Northwestern Memorial Hospital as a dedicated environmental service worker, Mary Ella retired with joy. She enjoyed spending her free time with her family, friends, and especially her great-great grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, She enjoyed conversation, puzzles, cooking and going to church at Healing Temple Church of God in Christ where she was a faithful member; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ella leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Alma Rea (Willie). Bessie (Ernest) and Mary Helen; ten grandchildren, Jerry, Tonisa, Deneen, Tonia, Michelle, Felicia, Adrienne, Ronnie, Karen and Bruce; six great grandchildren, Tatitanna. Nija, Tajanae, Jaika, Kendra and Faith; four great-great grandchildren, D'Marcyae, Nakeva, Raven and Ravon; and one great great-great grandchild, Khloe; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and
WHEREAS, A cherished friend and supportive family member to all, Mary Ella will be deeply missed but the remembrance of her character, dedication and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
