RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jesse L. Miller, Jr., has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 72; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jesse L. Miller, Jr., was a former member of the Chicago City Council and the loving husband of Darleen; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jesse L. Miller, Jr., was the much-adored father of Jessica and Brian to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jesse L. Miller, Jr., was the dear brother of Lee and Mack; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jesse L. Miller, Jr., was a dedicated community activist who helped found the Lawndale People's Planning and Action Council in the late 1960s; and
 
WHEREAS, As the Executive Director of the organization, the Honorable Jesse L. Miller, Jr., marched on drug houses and helped secure jobs for local residents on a Dan Ryan construction project; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jesse L. Miller, Jr., ably served as the Alderman ofthe 24th Ward from 1991 to 1995; and
 
WHEREAS, During his tenure in public office, the Honorable Jesse L. Miller, Jr., established a strong record of leadership and strived to improve the economic growth of the North Lawndale community; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jesse L. Miller, Jr., later served as a Director of the Illinois International Port District and as a private consultant; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of me Honorable Jesse L. Miller, Jr., serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Jesse L. Miller, Jr., to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jesse L. Miller, Jr., will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Jesse L. Miller, Jr., imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of December, 2014, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Jesse L. Miller, Jr., for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
