RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Anna Bienias, a longtime resident of the Southwest Side, will celebrate the joyful occasion of her Ninety-Fifth Birthday on December 29, 2014; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, Born in Chicago in 1919, the former Anna Mahalak was the daughter of Polish immigrants and raised near 52nd and Francisco in St. Simon's Parish; and
 
WHEREAS, The former Anna Mahalak married Joseph Bienias, a fellow parishioner, in 1939; and
 
WHEREAS, The couple moved in 1953 to 5148 South Mozart where they raised a close and loving family consisting of four children, Joann, Ronald, Joseph and Marie; and
 
WHEREAS, While her husband worked for Electro Motors, a locomotive manufacturer, Anna Bienias worked for Central Steel 8b Wire Company where she manually kept track of inventory; and
 
WHEREAS, A family-orientated woman who always demonstrated great charity and concern toward others, Anna Bienias was a member of St. Simon's School Board and was an active volunteer at Holy Cross Hospital; and
 
WHEREAS, Until moving five years ago to a retirement community in Lemont, Anna Bienias never lived more than a block from where she was raised; and
 
WHEREAS, Family members and friends of Anna Bienias will join with in a special celebration of her birthday; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of December, 2014, do hereby congratulate Anna Bienias on the occasion of her Ninety-Fifth Birthday and do hereby declare that December 29, 2014, shall be officially recognized as Anna Bienias Day throughout the City of Chicago; and
