Resolution
Whereas, Joe Faraci has been an integral part of the 48th Ward community for 45 years; and
Whereas, The City Council has been notified of his outstanding commitment to the community by The Honorable Harry Osterman, Alderman of the 48th Ward; and
Whereas, Joe Faraci began working at the Father and Son Barber Shop in 1969 after immigrating from Sicily, Italy in 1967; and
Whereas, Joe Faraci learned English through the business and eventually bought the barbershop from a family member in 1975 to continue the family business; and
Whereas, Joe Faraci worked full-time at the Father and Son Barber Shop and also worked at the local Dominick's for a few years to support his family; and
Whereas, Joe Faraci ran the Father and Son Barber Shop alone until 1992 when his son Pete joined the team; and
Whereas, Father and Son Barber Shop has expanded to include sons Pete and Anthony, as well as other staff. Father and Son Barber Shop was a mainstay on Thorndale for many years and is now located at 5806 N. Broadway; and
Whereas, The Faraci family has been involved in the Edgewater Chamber for many years, has donated hair products to local schools, churches and auctions; and
Whereas, Joe Faraci's commitment to the business and neighborhood have been evident. He has helped with safety efforts on Thorndale and his thoughtful and welcoming personality has created a wonderful gathering space for many in our community. Now therefore,
Be it resolved, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this day of December 10, 2014, do hereby express our gratitude for Joe Faraci's commitment to our neighborhood and thank him for his 45 years of service; and
Be it further resolved, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Joe Faraci.
