MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Frances "Fannie" T. Slisz, nee Betley, on January 7, 2015 at the age of ninety-three; and
 
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, Born on August 22, 1921, in Chicago, to the late Andrew and the late Mary (nee Jasek), Fannie was the adoring wife of over fifty years to the late John; loving mother of the late Greg (Florence), Drew (Marjorie) and Michael; dear grandmother of Samantha (Charles) Spencer, Melissa (Mike) Cantal and Michelle; proud great-grandmother of Sofia and Dominic Spencer; and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Fannie leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
 
WHEREAS, Fannie, who loved cooking and working with ceramics, left this life peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family; and
 
WHEREAS, An active and vital member of her community, Fannie touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, her generosity, her heart and her spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her, now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twenty-first day of January 2015, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Frances "Fannie" T. Slisz and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
 
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Frances "Fanny" T. Slisz as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
