Your Committee on Special Events Cultural Affairs and Recreation, for which a meeting was held on April 9, 2015, having had under consideration the ordinance introduced by Mayor Rahm Emanuel on March 18, 2015, this being the Special Events Ordinance, begs leave to recommend that Your Honorable Body Approve said ordinance transmitted herewith.


This recommendation was concurred in by a via voce vote of all committee members present with no dissenting votes.

ORDINANCE

WHEREAS, the City of Chicago (the "City") is a home rule unit of government as defined in Section 6(a), Article VII ofthe 1970 Constitution ofthe State of Illinois and, as such, may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs; and

WHEREAS, the City, through the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events ("DCASE"), sponsors and conducts unparalleled exhibits, programs, festivals and cultural and entertainment events as further described by this ordinance (collectively "Events") in City facilities managed by DCASE and other City departments and throughout the City's streets, parks and neighborhoods; and
