Ladies and Gentlemen:

I transmit herewith a resolution concerning the visit of the Netherlands' King and Q to Chicago.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Members of this Chamber are pleased and honored to welcome their Majesties, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima ofthe Kingdom ofthe Netherlands to the City of Chicago on June 2 and 3, 2015 to celebrate the strong economic, cultural and political ties between our peoples; and

WHEREAS, Dutch immigrants, among the first European ethnic groups to settle in the Chicagoland area as early as 1839, have played a vital role in the development of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Today, there are more than 88,000 Dutch-Americans in the Chicagoland area, including in the City's Roseland community, which boasts the largest enclave of Dutch-American population in the city; and

WHEREAS, Dutch companies are top investors and employers in the Chicagoland area, with more than 60 Netherlands-based companies doing business locally and total trade between Illinois and the Netherlands reaching $2.4 billion; and
WHEREAS, Chicago is the most popular destination outside Europe for Dutch travelers, according to the Dutch export association, Fenedexpress; and

WHEREAS, During their visit to Chicago, their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima will attend a trade dinner hosted by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, First Lady Amy Rule, and Mr. Ivo Daalder, President of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, as well as visit the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center, Gotham Greens, and attend an urban agricultural seminar at Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory Academy, located in the Pullman National Monument district; and
