RESOLUTION



WHEREAS, The Honorable William S. Wood has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 88; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, the Honorable William S. Wood was a widely admired member of the judicial community and the loving husband of Rosita, nee Sahara; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable William S. Wood was the much-adored father of William, Jr., Eugene and Raynelda and the grandfather of eight to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable William S. Wood graduated from Du Sable High School and earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Iowa; and

WHEREAS, A proud patriot, the Honorable William S. Wood served his country as a member of the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable William S. Wood was a former resource consultant for the Cook County Department of Public Aid and an Assistant Cook County State's Attorney; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable William S. Wood went on to serve as an Associate Judge and during his career was known for integrity and commitment to the highest ideals of public service; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable William S. Wood serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable William S. Wood to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable William S. Wood will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable William S. Wood imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twentieth day of May, 2015, do hereby commemo...
