RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Carl McCormick, a retired Justice of the Illinois Appellate Court, will celebrate the joyful occasion of his Eightieth Birthday surrounded by the love of family members and friends on May 30, 2015; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Born in 1935 at Cook County Hospital, the Honorable Carl McCormick was educated in the Chicago public school system and graduated from Roosevelt University and the John Marshall Law School; and j

WHEREAS, The Honorable Carl McCormick is a longtime member of the St. Mark United Methodist Church on the South Side and has participated in numerous civic organizations; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Carl McCormick served for 10 years as a Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County where he was Supervising Judge of the First Municipal District; and j

WHEREAS, The Honorable Carl McCormick served for four years as a member of the Illinois Appellate Court where he was highly revered for his wisdom and legal acumen; and '

WHEREAS, The Honorable Carl McCormick worked in private practice for nearly two decades and is a former Legal Advisor to| the Cook County Treasurer and a former General Counsel to the Forest Preserve District of Cook County; and |

WHEREAS, A resident of both Olympia Fields and Chicago, the Honorable Carl McCormick is the loving husband of Unalyn and the proud father of Carl, Jr., Natalie, Deone, Chante and Camille and1 the much-adored grandfather of six; and 1

WHEREAS, The Honorable Carl McCormick is an individual of great integrity and dedication to his community who is exceedingly worthy of our great admiration and esteem; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twentieth day of May, 2015, do hereby congratulate the Honorable Carl McCormick on the celebration of his Eightieth Birthday and do hereby declare that May 30, 2015, will be officially be recognized as The Honorable Carl McCormick Day throughout the City of Chicago; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable Carl McCormick.
