WHEREAS, Near North Unity Program (NNUP) seeks to promote and strengthen community cohesion in Chicago's Near North neighborhood; and
 
WHEREAS, NNUP depends upon the leadership and participation of community-based organizations and neighborhood residents, in particular local champions, or community advocates; and
 
WHEREAS, community advocates are ordinary people who go to extraordinary lengths to make life better for their families and their neighbors because of their deep and abiding personal commitment to their community and residents; and
 
WHEREAS, community advocates take on the arduous task of building their community and work valiantly to create opportunities for the preservation, growth and sustainability of their neighborhood; and
 
WHEREAS, community advocates are held in the highest regard by Near North Unity Program partner organizations, now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor, and the members of the Chicago City Council assembled here this twentieth day of May, 2015 do hereby congratulate the community advocates of NNUP and thank them for their service to our community and our great city...
