CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO JACK OSBORNE ON EARNING THE RANK OF
EAGLE SCOUT


WHEREAS, Life Scout Jack Osborne of Queen of All Saints Basilica's Boy Scout Troop 626 has passed his Eagle Scout Board of Review earning him the rank of Eagle Scout, scouting's highest achievement; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of this special occasion by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Jack's Eagle Scout Service Project was a Coat and Glove Drive for St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in the Uptown community of Chicago. He distributed five hundred bags throughout the neighborhood, seeking donations of coats and gloves for those less fortunate. He placed collection boxes at St. Mary Parish of Evanston and coordinated announcements during mass to encourage the parish to participate by donating winter clothing. He also placed collection boxes at Happy Foods and the Edgebrook Library. Ultimately, Jack's Eagle Project collected sixty coats, seven pairs of gloves, forty hats, three pairs of snow pants and three pairs of boots to distribute to those with the greatest need; and

WHEREAS, Eagle Scout, the pinnacle of scouting, earned through commitment and dedication, exemplifies a model citizen. A Scout must earn twenty-one merit badges in addition to completing several community projects and only two percent of boys enrolled in the scouting program earn the rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, Many Eagle Scouts have become great leaders in diverse endeavors such as Astronaut Neil Armstrong, former United States President Gerald R. Ford, former United States Senator William Bradley, former major league baseball player Albert Belle and Chief Executive Officer of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates, Sr.; and,

WHEREAS, Jack completed all the requirements and has been examined by an Eagle Scout Board of Review, certifying him for Scouting's highest distinction. He embodies the scout spirit through demonstrations of leadership and se...
