RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the members of the Chicago City Council join with grateful community members of the 8th Ward in congratulating Horace Mann Academy Marching Mustangs; and

WHEREAS, The Horace Mann Marching Mustang's Drum line members, Ashton Allen, Demetrius Brooks, Kjystal Kelley-Brooks, Shannon Burns, Terrence Greene, Brandon Greenwood, Tyshawn Harris, James Kee, London Mack, Kenron Matthews, Eric Mitchell, Antonio McCurine, Kyelah Risper, Kelon Tucker, and Christopher Watson are very hardworking, dedicated and enthusiastic youths who love music and enjoy sharing it with family, friends and their grateful community; and

WHEREAS, The Horace Mann Marching Mustangs eagerly participated in the famous "Bud Billiken Parade" for the past two years and they also brought a pulsation of rhythm to the crowd during their performance at the 8th Ward Back to School Parade; and

WHEREAS, These dedicated young students had competed in the Olympian Fields Battle of the Bands competition as the only middle school drum-line. They were the 6th Place Winners, beating out two other high school groups; and

WHEREAS, The Horace Mann Academy Marching Mustang's decision to except the invitation to go to New York City and compete in the Battle in the Apple's competition was spot-on, they zealously won 1st Place in the junior division as the only group from Chicago; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Horace Mann Academy Marching Mustangs represent the finest standards of the youth of this great city of Chicago, in whom its leaders place so much hope and trust; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this special honor of recognition by the Honorable Michelle A. Harris, Alderman of the 8th Ward and Chairman ofthe Committee on Committees, Rules and Ethics; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council gathered here this 29th day of July 2015 A.D., do hereby offer our heartiest congratulation to ...
