RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this legislative, body to honor those distinguished individuals, business and organizations whose work and civic endeavors serve to enhance the quality of life for Chicagoans; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concerns, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, the City Council of the City of Chicago recognizes London Towne Houses Cooperative, Inc. for many years of business, service and support in the Chicago area; and
WHEREAS, On Saturday September 26, 2015 the National Association of Housing Cooperatives' Board of Directors, guests and residents of Community Building 2, are gathering for a renaming ceremony in honor of Ida Curtis Fisher, whose total commitment has made an impressive impact on the residents in Chicago's great 8th Ward community; and
WHEREAS. Ida Curtis Fisher had achieved towering accomplishments throughout her long and active life. She was a long time member of NAHC who was known nationally and was responsible in the 1960s and 1970s for the creation of over 10,000 units of cooperative housing in Illinois, Ohio, Missouri and Michigan.
WHEREAS, The Honorable Michelle A. Harris, Alderman ofthe 8th Ward and Committeeman of the Committee on Committees, Rules and Ethics has apprised this august body of the significant and noteworthy impact Towne House Cooperative, Inc. is making on the lives of Chicagoans; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled here this 24th day of September 2015 A.D., do hereby salute London Towne Houses Cooperatives, Inc., for the acknowledgement and recognition of Ida Curtis Fisher's renowned accomplishments by the renaming of London Towne Houses Cooperative, Inc.'s Community Building 2 as the "Ida Curtis Fisher" Community Building.
