ORDINANCE

 

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

SECTION 1. Section 9-68-020 ofthe Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by deleting the language struck through and by inserting the language underscored, as follows,

9-68-020 Residential parking permits.

(b-1) Upon application and payment of the required fee to the city clerk, the clerk or his designee shall issue one annual residential parking permit placard (for purposes of this subsection, "placard") to anv alderman. The placard shall be issued in such format that enables easy transferability from one vehicle to another vehicle, and it must include the ward's number and a unique identification number. The placard can be used to park any vehicle in anv residential parking permit zone in the alderman's ward or in anv ward adjacent to the alderman's ward when such vehicle is used by the alderman or his aldermanic staff for the performance of official city business. When in use, the placard must be conspicuously displayed on the dashboard of the vehicle. The fee for issuing a placard shall be $200.00 per year. Any alderman or his aldermanic staff shall immediately report to the city clerk the loss or theft of any placard. A misuse of a residential parking placard by anv alderman or his aldermanic staff shall be deemed to be a violation of Section 2-156-060 of this Code. In addition to anv applicable penalty, anv person who uses a false, lost, stolen or altered placard shall be fined not less than $500.00 nor more than $1,000.00 for each offense.

(f) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b-1) of this section, it shall be unlawful for any person to affix, cause to be affixed, or otherwise display any residential parking permit or other vehicle-specific permit issued pursuant to any other parking permit program to any automobile other than the vehicle to which the permit was intended to be affixed at the time of issuance by the city.

(j) Except as otherwise provided in subsections (b-1) and (g) of this section, any person violating any of the provisions of this section shall be fined not less than $200.00 nor more than $500.00 for each offense, and each day such a violation continues shall be deemed a separate and distinct offense.
