RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Chris P. Tomaras has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 77; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Chris P. Tomaras was a widely admired business leader and the loving husband of the late Nancy; and

 

WHEREAS, Chris P. Tomaras was the much-adored step-father of Michael Winstead and Linda Raye, the grandfather of two, and the great-grandfather of six to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, A Greek immigrant, Chris P. Tomaras demonstrated great ability as an entrepreneur and founded both Kronos Foods and Tomaras Investments; and

 

WHEREAS, Chris P. Tomaras established the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation which assists Greek youths with educational opportunities and helps to develop future leaders; and

 

WHEREAS, A devoted Greek Orthodox Christian, Chris P. Tomaras was a generous benefactor of the St. Iakovos Retreat Center in Kansasville, Wisconsin; and

 

WHEREAS, Chris P. Tomaras will be remembered for his profound faith, love of Hellenic culture and history as well as his entrepreneurial spirit; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Chris P. Tomaras serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Chris P. Tomaras to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, Chris P. Tomaras was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Chris P. Tomaras imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-first day of October 2015, do hereby commemorate Chris P. Tomaras for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Chris P. Tomaras.
