Resolution Honoring Barbara L. Lewis
WHEREAS, Barbara L. Lewis' living spirit left the body that we have come to know Thursday, September 17, 2015; and
WHEREAS, the family and friends have deep gratitude and respect for Barbara L. Lewis for providing love, understanding, leadership and discipline; and
WHEREAS, Barbara L. Lewis set good examples of unwavering loyalty, availability and showed strong faith; and
WHEREAS, she was so loved and so special to all her children they would playfully seek the highest honor by naming themselves her favorite; and
WHEREAS, those who were her neighbors and friends could count on her being a good neighbor and friend; and
WHEREAS, Barbara L. Lewis could signify, make you laugh, and bring Joy to your heart. She was honored because of her dignity, love for family, strength through difficult times and honoring our God; and
WHEREAS Barbara, Mama, Gran, Gran Gran and Old Grand has been such a blessing to us, and she still lives in us despite her absence from the body; and
WHEREAS, Gran Gran could give you clear directions and if you didn't get it right, ask you if something was wrong with you; and
WHEREAS, Gran loved laughing with you and she also enjoyed being, laughed at; and
WHEREAS, many have had better days and nights because of the comfort of knowing she was near; and
WHEREAS, she is expecting everyone to carry on every good trait and lesson she has taught and instilled in everyone; and now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled here on this 28lh day of October 2015 AD, do hereby honor Barbara Lucille Lewis for the role she has played in making this world a better place for generations to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, this resolution be entered into the official journal and archives of the City of Chicago as a testament of her existence, and that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family.
