RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Robert Gehrke has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 78; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, A resident of Northlake, Robert Gehrke was the loving husband for 49 years of Lillian; and

 

WHEREAS, Robert Gehrke was the much-adored father of Jeneen, Amy and the late Kimberly and the grandfather of four to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, Raised on the North Side, Robert Gehrke attended Steinmetz High School and served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps; and

 

WHEREAS, Robert Gehrke worked repairing car radios for the Chicago Police Department and with American Airlines before working security for the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field; and

 

WHEREAS, Robert Gehrke loved being assigned to a spot outside the tunnel between the dugout and the clubhouse where he would congratulate players returning after winning games; and

 

WHEREAS, Cubs Manager Joe Maddon presented Robert Gehrke with a Cubs jersey this past summer which read "Bob," a gift he treasured; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Robert Gehrke serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Robert Gehrke to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, Robert Gehrke will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Robert Gehrke imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-eighth day of October 2015, do hereby commemorate Robert Gehrke for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

Alderman - 14th Ward

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Gehrke.
