ORDINANCE

Amending the Annual Appropriation Ordinance of the City of Chicago for the Year 2016


WHEREAS, taxpayers in the City of Chicago pay to the State of Illinois and the City itself certain motor fuel taxes; and
WHEREAS, the safety and health of Chicago taxpayers, residents, and visitors depend upon the construction and maintenance of roads, highways, bridges, alleys and other public ways; and
WHEREAS, certain roads, highways, bridges, alleys and other public ways utilized for transportation are in need of repair, upkeep, and maintenance; and
WHEREAS, the City Council may amend the 2016 Annual Appropriation Bill in such time and manner as is permitted by the City's home-rule authority and Illinois statute; now, therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
That Section 1 of the Annual Appropriation Ordinance of the City of Chicago for the Year 2016 is hereby amended by adding the underscored text and deleting the struck-through text as follows:

Section 1. The following sums of money set apart according to departments and other separate agencies of the City Government are appropriated from the respective funds designated in in this ordinance for the objects and purposes stated herein, and no other, to defray necessary expenses and liabilities of the City of Chicago to be paid or incurred during the fiscal years beginning January 1, 2015 and 2016, provided that, except with respect to payments authorized by an ordinance authorizing bonds or notes heretofore adopted by the City and payments authorized by contracts heretofore approved by the authorized City authorities, all revenue received by the City of Chicago that is derived from a tax on motor fuel levied by the United States, the State of Illino...
