RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Yolanda Quesada-Marquez has announced her retirement from the City of Chicago following nearly three decades of dedicated public service; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this milestone by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A life-long resident of South East Side of Chicago, Yolanda Quesada-Marquez began her long and illustrious career with the City of Chicago in October, 1986 as an Executive Assistant for the Veteran's Liaison in the Department of Human Relations under the Honorable James A. Balcer; and

WHEREAS, Yolanda Quesada-Marquez retires from the Chicago Department of Planning where she has ably served as the Executive Assistant for a number of Deputy Commissioners as well as Commissioners David R. Mosena, Valerie B. Jarrett, Arnold L. Randall and Andrew J. Mooney; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure, Yolanda Quesada-Marquez interacted with senior level management, elected officials,, community groups, residents and staff on various work assignments to ensure project deadlines were promptly met and information was delivered in a timely and accurate manner; and

WHEREAS, Yolanda Quesada-Marquez maintained an ongoing open dialogue between the Commissioner's Office and departmental staff, local units of government, elected officials and communities to promote economic opportunities and bring, a better quality of life to all Chicagoans; and

WHEREAS, Yolanda Quesada-Marquez graduated with a liberal arts degree from the School for New Learning with, a concentration in business, marketing and the arts in June of 2010; and

WHEREAS, Yolanda Quesada-Marquez has generously volunteered her time with organizations such as Chicago Gives and Big Shoulders Fund; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Yolanda Quesada-Marquez upheld the finest and most noble traditions of public service; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Yolanda Quesada-Marquez serve as an example to all; now, therefore
