ORDINANCE

 

WHEREAS, From time to time, fire stations used by the City of Chicago become outdated or obsolete and are no longer utilized by the Chicago Fire Department; and

 

WHEREAS, The City's Department of Fleet and Facility Management, from time to time, maintains fire stations that, while no longer useful to the City, could be of great use and value to another entity; and

 

WHEREAS, The Fellowship of Christian Firefighters International is in need of a fire station to occupy in order to house, store, and maintain donated fire gear, equipment and vehicles to be distributed to underfunded fire departments in Mexico, Argentina, Guatemala and other countries in Latin America; now, therefore,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

 

SECTION 1. The Commissioner of Fleet and Facility Management is hereby authorized to donate one obsolete Fire Department fire station no longer useful to the City of Chicago, as such fire stations may become available, to the Fellowship of Christian Firefighters International or its designee, free and clear of any liens or encumbrances. The City shall convey said fire station in "as is" condition without any warranties either expressed or implied and expressly excludes any warranty of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

 

SECTION 2. The Commissioner of Fleet and Facility Management is hereby authorized to enter into and execute such other documents as may be necessary and proper to implement this donation.

 

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after/its passage and
publication.
