RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, God in His infinite Wisdom has called Euvon Blanche Bolton Mapes-Radel to her eternal reward; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Marty Quinn, Alderman ofthe 13th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Euvon Blanche Bolton Mapes-Radel, 80, of rural Nauvoo, passed away at 11:09 a.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016, at her farm home after a long battle with cancer.

WHERAS, She was born June 16,1935, at St. Joseph Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa, to Lawrence B. and Beulah E. Kellogg Bolton of rural Hamilton. She was the last of her immediate family and the only one to attain 80 years of age.

WHERAS, She attended the Golden Point School for her first six years, before the closing of country schools. She transferred to Hamilton Grade School and graduated from Hamilton High School with the Class of 1953. She went to work at Sheaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, Iowa.

WHERAS, Euvon married Lloyd Thomas Mapes Jr. on Nov. 8,1953, at the First Christian Church in Ferris. After Lloyd was dismissed from the military, they moved to the Mapes family farm in Sonora Township, where she resided for 62 years. They began raising their family. To this union four children were born, Timothy Dean (Bronwyn) Mapes of Springfield, Teresa Diane (Alan) Covert of Blandinsville, Terry Damon (Kim) Mapes of Newton, Iowa, and Tamera Denise (Donald) Sewell of Nauvoo; nine grandchildren, Devin Mapes of Chicago, Corbin Mapes of Springfield, Cassie (Royce) DeJaynes of LaHarpe, Christopher Covert of Blandinsville, Troy Mapes of Hawley, Minn., Corissa and Krystal Mapes of Newton, Iowa, Adam Sewell of Peoria and Alicia Sewell of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; and four great-grandchildren, Brexton, Dalton, Bryn ley and Rowan.

WHERAS, On July 5,1980, Euvon married John E. Radel of rural Nauvoo at the Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Nauvoo. He survives. They resided on the same farm and continued the farming operation. Euvon worked side-by-side with her husband and enjoyed dr...
