RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, The mission of the Office of Emergency Management and Communications ("OEMC") is to manage incidents, coordinate events, operate communications systems, and provide technology, among other forms of support, to strengthen City services and to protect lives and property in the City of Chicago; and

 

WHEREAS, All City residents depend upon OEMC to carry out its vital safety-related and emergency-response-related functions; and

 

WHEREAS, It is of paramount importance to the City Council of the City of Chicago that OEMC fulfills its mission and provides services to residents in a prompt and efficient manner; and

 

WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Chicago seeks information from OEMC concerning its general protocol and procedures for intake of emergency 9-1-1 calls and the timely dispatch of first responders in response to requests for emergency assistance; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this eighteenth day of May, 2016, do hereby direct the Committee on Public Safety of the City Council of the City of Chicago to hold an informational hearing on the matter described herein, and call upon appropriate officials from OEMC to appear and testify relativer1io)this matter.
