RESOLUTION HONORING VIRGINIA A. MCDONALD
WHEREAS, Virginia A. McDonald was born 90 years ago on the 16th day of May 1926.
WHEREAS, Virginia was born in a single family residence located at 6750 N. Octavia in Chicago's 41st Ward. At this time Edison Park was surrounded by farmland and had only been annexed by the city sixteen years earlier in 1910. William Dever was Mayor at the time.
WHEREAS, Virginia attended St. Juliana grammar school, which was founded after her birth in 1927. Virginia also attended St. Patrick's High School for Girls in Des Plaines, Illinois. The all-girl high school closed after the 1969 school year.
WHEREAS, Virginia married John (Jack) McDonald and together they raised eight children in Edison Park. Today Virginia has twenty-one grandchildren and one great grandchild. Virginia is still a proud resident ofthe neighborhood she loves. Virginia is well known in the neighborhood for her kind, generous nature and has many lifelong friends there.
WHEREAS, On the occasion of her ninetieth birthday we would like to recognize this long time resident ofthe 41st Ward's Edison Park neighborhood.
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this eighteenth day of May 2016, do hereby express our gratitude and recognize this long-time resident ofthe 41st ward's Edison Park neighborhood.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation to Virginia A. McDonald
