RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Daniel Stegvilas, Sr., 80 years old, has been a member of the Boy Scours of America for over fifty years, currently holding the rank of Arrpwman, in Troop 415 - Blessed Sacrament and is a Committee Member of Troop 465 - Five Holy Martyrs; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stegvilas has been meticulously collecting, counting, and logging aluminum can tabs on behalf of the Ronald McDonald House in Oak Lawn, Illinois since 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has been informed of his charitable work by the Honorable Raymond Lopez, Alderman of the 15lh Ward; and
WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald Houses are a "homc-away-from-homc" for families traveling far from home to receive treatment for children facing a serious medical crisis. By staying at a Ronald McDonald House, parents focus on the health of their child, easily communicate with their child's medical team and keep up with complicated treatment plans; and
WHEREAS, pop tabs remind us of an important lesson: even little things make a big difference. Recycling of these tabs generates income that permits the Ronald McDonald House to continue to serve children and their families; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stegvilas has already collected over million pop tabs on behalf of the Ronald McDonald House, weighing approximately 790 pounds, and he is well on his way to collecting two million; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, that we, the Mayor, and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty second day of June, 2016, do hereby extend our heartiest commendations and congratulations to Daniel Stegvilas, Sr. on his charitable contribution to the Ronald McDonald House Charities and wish him every success in all of his future endeavors;
