. On the morning of June 21, 2016, Police Officer Jennifer Jacobucci #4783 was on-duty, driving westbound on the Kennedy Expressway; and

WHEREAS, While en route, Officer Jacobucci observed thick, black smoke billowing just off the expressway; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jacobucci immediately exited and began traveling toward the smoke; and

WHEREAS, As Officer Jacobucci got closer to the smoke, she learned via her police radio that there was a house on fire on the 2700 block of North Campbell; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jacobucci immediately responded to the scene; and

WHEREAS, Once on scene. Officer Jacobucci observed one home completely engulfed in flames, with fire spreading to the building next door; and

WHEREAS, Sensing there was no time to delay. Officer Jacobucci immediately entered the three flat next door, quickly alerting residents to their perilous circumstances and urging them to evacuate the building without delay; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jacobucci escorted a woman with two dogs from the second floor, and two women, one man and a dog from the first floor to safety; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jacobucci then continued a room-by-room search of the entire three flat to ensure everyone had exited safely; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago Fire Department arrived on scene and began battling the blaze; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jacobucci was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation; and
