RESOLUTION COMMEMORATING THE CREATION OF HONORARY DEE JAY RODRIGUEZ WAY

WHEREAS, Mr. Harry (Dee Jay) Rodriguez was an outstanding Chicagoan who died much too

young; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Gilbert Villegas, Alderman ofthe 36^th Ward, has apprised this august body of this remarkable young man's achievements; and

WHEREAS, Dee Jay Rodriguez was attending Wilbur Wright College, studying to be a coach; and

WHEREAS, He loved to dance and participate in sports like football, softball, basketball and hockey and received numerous trophies and awards; and

WHEREAS, On November 23, 2011, a masked gunman burst into the house and opened fire. Mr. Rodriguez was a hero in saving two other lives, but lost his own during the encounter; now,

therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this First Day of November, 2016, do hereby recognize the accomplishments of Dee Jay Rodriguez and acknowledge the naming of Dee Jay Rodriguez Way on the 2200 block of North Leclaire Avenue in his honor.
