RESOLUTION EXTENDING CONGRATULATIONS TO ST. DANIEL THE PROPHET SCHOOL
WHEREAS, St. Daniel the Prophet School was named a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education; and
WHEREAS, St. Daniel the Prophet School's mission is to develop the talents and the abilities of each student, prepare students to contribute productively to society, develop students' academic skills and instill the values embraced by the Catholic faith and society; and
WHEREAS, The school's commendations are the result of the hard work a dedication of its staff to excellence, under the leadership of the School Principal, Ms. Holly A. Gross and Pastor, Father John T. Noga; and
WHEREAS, The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups; and
WHEREAS, The National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging content; and
WHEREAS, In 2016, St. Daniel the Prophet School is one among only 279 public and 50 private schools receiving this honor. School officials will travel to the National Blue Ribbon School Awards ceremony in Washington D.C. and returns home to celebrate this accomplishment with the local community on November 10,
2016; and
WHEREAS, St. Daniel the Prophet School is located in the heart of Chicago's Garfield Ridge neighborhood, which is a middle-class, diverse, urban community; and
WHEREAS, The school is treasured by the Catholic community. Archbishop Blase J. Cupich sent a letter of congratuladons to St. Daniel the Prophet School, recognizing the school's National Blue Ribbon designation and the valuable contribution the school makes its students, community and the Catholic faith; and
