RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Paul Woodward has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 86; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Paul Woodward was longtime suburban civic and business leader and the loving husband for 65 years of Eileen; and

 

WHEREAS, Raised in West Chicago, Paul Woodward served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War; and

 

WHEREAS, After the war, Paul Woodward graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer; and

 

WHEREAS, Paul Woodward worked at a Wheaton funeral home until opening Woodward Funeral Home in 1966; and

 

WHEREAS, Paul Woodward served on the West Chicago Park District Board from its inception in 1972 until 1982, but remained involved throughout the years in various community activities; and

 

WHEREAS, Paul Woodward was a charter member of West Chicago's Lions Club and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Central DuPage Hospital for two decades; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Paul Woodward serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Paul Woodward to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, Paul Woodward was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

WHEREAS, To his wife, Eileen, and his brother, Wayne, Paul Woodward imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this ninth day of November, 2016, do hereby commemorate Paul Woodward for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
