RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Ronald Baltierra and David M. Ramirez both Americans of Mexican descent bravely served their country during the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, After retiring from active duty service, Ronald Baltierra and David M. Ramirez partnered and founded dr/Balti, a Construction Management/Architectural Engineering Company; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Baltierra and David M. Ramirez were partners for more than 28 years and created numerous jobs for veterans; and

WHEREAS, In the summer of 1990, they built the first Mexican Arch this side of the Rio Grande in the Little Village neighborhood in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Baltierra and David M. Ramirez are exceedingly worthy of our highest admiration and esteem; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable George A. Cardenas, Alderman of the 12th Ward, has apprised this November body of the notable military service and cultural contribution embodied in the work of these remarkable men; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council, assembled this 16th day of November, 2016 do hereby salute Ronald Baltierra and David M. Ramirez for their noteworthy military service and contribution in building the Little Village Arch, a structure of symbolic significance to the Mexican community in the City of Chicago; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Mexican American Veterans Ronald Baltierra and David M. Ramirez as a token of our appreciation and esteem.
