MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR SEAN P. MCKEOUGH
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death Sean P. McKeough, on November 29, 2016 at the age of 42; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Michael Scott Jr., Alderman of the 24th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Scan was an entrepreneur, who owned Chicago's Cobra Lounge venue and a brewery, All Rise Brewing. He also worked as a Elm producer, having worked on the documentary We Live in Public, a Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner about a dot-com entrepreneur, and Echotone, a documentary about the Austin, Texas music scene; and

WHEREAS, In 2006, Sean became a partner and producer of Riot Fcst, which began as a multi-venue event in Chicago focusing on punk, metal and their numerous offshoots. The festival attracted an eclectic array of acts, including Weezer, Danzig, Bad Brains, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Social Distortion; and
WHEREAS, Sean had the idea to move Riot Fest to a single outdoor space in Humboldt Park. From there, the festival expanded to other cities, including Brooklyn, Toronto and Dallas. Over the past few years, Riot Fest setded in Chicago and Denver and has become known for both its diverse lineups and ability to reunite acts like the Replacements and the Misfits with Glenn Danzig; and
WHEREAS, Sean is remembered for his big heart, thinking outside of the box, and strategic vision for Riot Fest; and

WHEREAS, Sean leaves to cherish his memory a large host of family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Sean touched the lives of all who knew him through his passion for music, kind heart, and compassionate spirit. He will be deeply missed, but memories of him wiil live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this fourteenth dav of December, 2016, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Sean P. McKeough.
