ORDINANCE

 

 

 

WHEREAS, Pursuant to a previously passed ordinance (the "No-Parking Ordinance"), no-parking zones are currently in place on two portions of the south side of West Van Buren Street: (i) from South Loomis Street to a point 800 feet west thereof, and (ii) from a point 100 feet east of South Loomis Street to a point 475 feet cast thereof (the "Pertinent Areas"); and

 

 

WHEREAS, The City's Departments of Transportation and Police have concluded that it would be beneficial to allow Police parking in the Pertinent Areas; now, therefore,

 

 

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

 

 

 

SECTION 1. The No-Parking Ordinance is hereby amended to allow parking, for official Police Department business only, of vehicles in the Pertinent Areas that display: (i) Police Department colors and insignia, or (ii) "M" license plates, or (iii) temporary placards issued by the Police Department. The Commissioner of Transportation is authorized and directed to implement signage at the Pertinent Areas to give effect to this ordinance.

 

 

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage and approval.
