RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Immigration is something that has accompanied the Polish nation for centuries. You may say that Polish immigrates are citizens ofthe world, present among different types of countries and cultures; and,

 

WHEREAS, For decades, residents of Moriki, Poland migrated to the United States and raised their families and became an integral part of the American society. Despite a long period of separation, they have not forgotten where their roots lie and their city of origin. Today's Polinia is made up of educated people of various professions, who are achieving success; and,

 

WHEREAS, The city of Mohki maintains a close contact with the City of Chicago. On May 3, 2012, Mayor Zbigniew Karwowski attended the annual Chicago Polish Constitution Day Parade. They also shared their support and commitment with the installation of the statue of Saint John Paul II at St. Hyacinth Basilica, located in the northwest side of Chicago; and,

 

WHEREAS, With their strong ties to Moriki, America Polinia has been proud of their cultures and traditions. In many respects, Milwaukee Avenue has been the hub of those who have immigrated to Chicago and by naming a section of Milwaukee Avenue from North Central Park to North Ridgeway Avenue Ziemia Moniecka, it would link those of Polish descent who are living in Chicago to their homeland; and now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago, gathered here this 25th day of January 2017 AD do hereby express our congratulations and best wishes to all members ofthe Moriki community; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to a representative ofthe Moriki region.
