RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus, founder of Driehaus Capital Management LLC, has been named a recipient of the 2017 Order of Lincoln Award by the Lincoln Academy of Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this honor by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, The Order of Lincoln is the state of Illinois' highest award given to individuals whose achievements and contributions to the betterment of society have brought honor to the state; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus is a lifelong Chicagoan and an alumnus of DePaul University; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus is the Founder, Chief Investment Officer, Portfolio Manager, Chairman and Director of Driehaus Capital Management LLC; and

 

WHEREAS, Driehaus Capital Management, founded in 1982, is an independent boutique investment advisor that manages growth equity investment strategies and multi-asset alternative strategies, and currently manages approximately $8.2 billion in assets; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus is the architect of Driehaus Capital Management's equity investment philosophy; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus founded Driehaus Private Equity in 2011 to continue executing the private equity investment tradition which he has developed; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus founded both Driehaus Mutual Funds and Driehaus Securities LLC, where he currently serves as the Chairman; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus is on the Board of Directors of Driehaus Capital Holdings LLC, Driehaus Enterprise Management, Inc., The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation and The Richard H. Driehaus Museum; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus is recognized as one of the nation's most benevolent and generous philanthropists of architecture, the arts, historic preservation and higher education; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus founded the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation in 1992 that has donated more than $90 million since 1984; and

 

WHEREAS, The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation benefits individuals and communities by supporting the preservation and enhancement of built and natural environments through historic preservation in neighborhoods, encouragement of quality architectural and landscape design, and conservation of open space; and

WHEREAS, The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation also supports arts and culture, investigative reporting and government accountability, and organizations that provide opportunity for the working poor; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus founded The Richard H. Driehaus Museum in 2003 to influence today's built environment by promoting the architecture and design of the past; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus actively promotes education through a multitude of endowed initiatives and scholarships; and

 

WHEREAS, Ban-oil's Magazine named Richard Driehaus to its 20th Century All-star Team, identifying Driehaus as one of the most influential members of the investment community during the past century; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard Driehaus is repeatedly ranked as the top U.S. Equity Manager in the world; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council do hereby recognize and congratulate Richard Driehaus on this nineteenth day of April, 2017, as one of seven distinguished recipients of the Order of Lincoln Award which is to be presented by the Lincoln Academy of Illinois on May 6, 2017; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Richard Driehaus.
