Memorial Resolution for Richard Howard, Jr.

 

 

 

WHEREAS, Richard Howard, Jr. was called home to our almighty God on August 6, 2017; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been notified of Richard Howard, Jr.'s passing by the Honorable Carrie M. Austin, Alderman of the 34th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Richard Howard, Jr. was born to the late Erma Brown and Richard Howard, Sr. on March 31, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois. He confessed his devotion to Christ at an early age. He graduated from Chicago Vocational High School where he participated in numerous talent shows; and

WHEREAS, Richard worked for twenty-eight years at Acme Steel, where he was promoted to foreman. When the plant closed, he went to work at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad; and

WHEREAS, From a prior marriage he had three children: Takeshia, Richard III and Devin. In May, 2000, Richard married his long-time sweetheart, Queenie Flowers. They had one son, Dionte; and

WHEREAS, Richard was incredibly talented in karaoke, especially performing songs by the Chi-Lites and the Stylistics. He even created his own karaoke club, Club 379. He was a gadget fanatic, owning an incredible number of them. Richard greatly enjoyed photography. He was a trusted advisor and counselor to numerous friends and family; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Howard leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Queenie Howard; daughter, Takeshia; sons, Richard III, Devin and Dionte; grandchildren, Pashion, John, Marc, Jeremy, Alonzo, Carrolyn, Penelope and Arieonna; great-grandchildren, Noah, Bella and Mia; mother, Erma Brown; sisters, Lauri and Donna; brothers, Raynoldo (Marie), Tony (Gayer), Dwain, Shawn (Patti) and Ronald; sister-in-laws, Venilla, Wilma and Earlene (William); and a host of nieces; nephews; family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Richard Howard, Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Richard Howard, Sr.; brother Ricky; and sisters, Ursula and Angela; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this sixth day of September, 2017, do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Richard Howard, Jr. and extend to his family and friends our sincere condolences.

fie It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Richard Howard, Jr.
