Resolution Memorializing Charlotte Rogers
WHEREAS, In God's infinite wisdom Ms. Charlotte Rollins was called to her eternal resting place; and
WHEREAS, Charlotte Rollins was. a mother of the ages and true Chicagoan; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Rollins was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri: and
WHEREAS, Ms. Rollins was baptized into the First Free Will Baptist Church and remained a faithful Christian throughout her days; and
WHEREAS, When Charlotte Rollins was only seventeen years old her mother passed away, a tragedy that tested her resolve and proved to her the importance of family; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Rollins went on to raise four children; Gail, Keith, Sharon and Roderick, on the South Side of Chicago and eventually moved to the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Rollins lived a life full of faith, family, and a love of education; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Rollins held sacred the duty to vote and be engaged in her community; and
WHEREAS, In the face of life's trials Ms. Rollins maintained a buoyant attitude with an optimism grounded in a foundation of hard work and perseverance; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Rollins was a pillar in the community and a rock of reliability for her family; and
WHEREAS, Charlotte Rollins will be deeply missed, and her example of love and kindness will carry on in her family and community; now therefore,
BE IT RESLOVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this sixth day of September 2017, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Charlotte Rollins and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Charlotte Rollins.
