ORDINANCE

Quincy Elevated Station 220 S. Wells Street

WHEREAS, pursuant to the procedures set forth in the Municipal Code of Chicago (the "Municipal Code"), Sections 2-120-630 through -690, the Commission on Chicago Landmarks (the "Commission") has determined that the Quincy Elevated Station (the "Station"), located at 220 S. Wells Street, Chicago, Illinois, satisfies three (3) criteria for landmark designation as set forth in Section 2-120-620 (1), (4) and (5) of the Municipal Code; and

WHEREAS, the Quincy Elevated Station was built in 1897 and is one of the Loop 'L's original stations and it remains the best example of the Loop's original station designs; and

WHEREAS, with the exception of a hiatus for a restoration in the 1980s, the Quincy Elevated Station has served Chicago commuters and visitors for well over a century; and
