RESOLUTION FOR THE GRAY'S 60TH WEDDING ANNtVERSARY



WHEREAS, Charlotte Gray and Matthew "Gene" Gray will be celebrating their 60m wedding anniversary next month; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been notified of the Gray's milestone by the Honorable Marty Qutnn, Alderman of the 13th Ward, and the Honorable Michael Zalewski, Alderman of the 23rd Ward; and
WHEREAS, The Grays were married on November 9, 1957, at Sacred Heart Church in Chicago, Illinois. They bought a home in the Clear Ridge neighborhood in 1963 and are longĀ­time Chicagoans. To this blessed union were born four children: Mitchell, Charlotte, Matthew and William; and
WHEREAS, Gene delivered furniture for Goldblatt's for several decades. He then became a small business owner, founding G7G, Inc. Charlotte was an executive administrator at Tootsie Roll Industries until her retirement. The Grays bought Family Pride Laundromat in Summit, Illinois, in the 1990's. Their business was a fixture in the community and provided services and employment for many individuals. They sold the business and retired; and
WHEREAS, The Grays have been very active in the community. Charlotte has volunteered as an accountant at the Southwest Senior Citizen Center, where she is still a volunteer. Gene also has volunteered at the Center and they have both been volunteer coaches at Clear Ridge baseball. Gene also ran the Community Economic Development Association Program for State Representative Dan Lipinski's office assisting low-income senior citizens in receiving affordable electric and gas service; and
WHEREAS, The Grays have six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with another great-granddaughter expected next month. They are wonderful examples of a loving couple who built a strong family and have greatly enhanced their community; now, therefore,
