RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Richard Paul Cody has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 86; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A resident of the Lincoln Park neighborhood, Richard Paul Cody was a retired copywriter and the loving husband of the late Charlotte; and

WHEREAS, Richard Paul Cody lived for many years in the Belden-Stratford, a beautifully appointed apartment building near the Lincoln Park Conservatory; and

WHEREAS, Richard Paul Cody graduated from Loyola Academy in Chicago and Notre Dame University in South bend, Indiana where he earned a degree in English literature; and

WHEREAS, Richard Paul Cody worked in an advertising agency in South Bend before returning to Chicago where he was a writer for television and print advertising; and

WHEREAS, Richard Paul Cody worked for several advertising agencies including Mandabach & Simms where he met his future wife, a media director; and

WHEREAS, Richard Paul Cody was a splendid conversationalist and raconteur who loved to dine and enjoy city life with his wife and friends; and

WHEREAS, In his retirement, Richard Paul Cody served as a docent for the Chicago History Museum where he shared his zest for Chicago's colorful past; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Richard Paul Cody serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Richard Paul Cody to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

 

WHEREAS, To his cousin, Rita Bakewell, and his beloved family, Richard Paul Cody imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of October, 2017, do hereby commemorate Richard Paul Cody for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Paul Cody.
