RESOLUTION

 

 

 

 

WHEREAS, Logan S. Palmer has gone to his eternal reward at the age of 23; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Logan S. Palmer and nine fellow sailors tragically lost their lives when the guided missile destroyer USS John S. McCain collided with an oil tanker in the Strait of Malacca near Singapore; and

WHEREAS, A native of Decatur, Illinois, Logan S. Palmer was the devoted son of Sidney L. and Theresa, and the dear brother of Austin, Kaleb, and Madison; and

WHEREAS, Logan S. Palmer was the fiance of Lindsey Leishner and the grandson of Robert and Martha Palmer and Ruth and the late Ernest Karcher; and ;

WHEREAS, Logan S. Palmer graduated from Sangamon Valley High School and Richland Community College; and

WHEREAS, Logan S. Palmer enlisted in the United States Navy in April of 2016 and completed his training in San Diego, California; and

WHEREAS, The patriotism, courage and dedication of Logan S. Palmer serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Logan S. Palmer to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Logan S. Palmer imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of October, 2017, do hereby commemorate Logan S. Palmer for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Logan S. Palmer.
