RESOLUTION




WHEREAS, William P. Pavlecic has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 95; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of La Grange, William P. Pavlecic was a widely admired architect and the husband for 63 years of the late Marian, nee Reilly; and
WHEREAS, William P. Pavlecic was the much-adored father of Bill, Patricia, Jim and the late David and the grandfather of seven to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Raised on the Southwest Side of Chicago, William P. Pavlecic was the son of Croatian immigrant parents; and
WHEREAS, William P. Pavlecic's father, a machinist, worked on the carburetor of the Spirit of St. Louis, the plane piloted by Charles Lindberg for his historic 1927 solo flight across the Atlantic; and
WHEREAS, William P. Pavlecic studied architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology and began his career with Skidmore, Owings 86 Merrill; and
WHEREAS, William P. Pavlecic co-founded Pavlecic, Kovacevic & Ota which became Pavlecic & Associates; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, William P. Pavlecic became well known for his bold, modernist designs which included the airy, circular Citibank building in Brookfield; and
WHEREAS, William P. Pavlecic designed 27 churches, including St. Gall's Church and St. Jane de Chantal Church, both located in Chicago's 14th Ward; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of William P. Pavlecic serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared William P. Pavlecic to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, William P. Pavlecic imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
