RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Gertrude C. Siedlecki has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Gertrude C. Siedlecki was a longtime Southwest Side funeral director and the loving wife of the late John (U.S.M.C.); and

WHEREAS, Gertrude C. Siedlecki was the much-adored mother of Jonathan, Michael Jo and the late baby Mary, the grandmother of four and the great-grandmother of one; and

WHEREAS, Gertrude C. Siedlecki was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Helen Szykowny; and

WHEREAS, For fifty years Gertrude C. Siedlecki was a licensed funeral director for Szykowny Funeral Home which was operated for 60 years by her husband along with her mother; and

WHEREAS, Gertrude C. Siedlecki was actively involved in St. Bruno's Parish, the Ted Stempien VFW Post Ladies Auxiliary, the Archer Heights Civic Association and numerous fraternal and community organizations; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Gertrude C. Siedlecki serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Gertrude C. Siedlecki imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of October, 2017, do hereby commemorate Gertrude C. Siedlecki for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gertrude C. Siedlecki.
