RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Reverend William Sullivan celebrated the 50^th Anniversary of his ordination as a priest of the Augustinian Order on September 23, 2017 at St. Jude Parish in New Lenox, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this anniversary by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Raised on the South Side of Chicago, the Reverend William Sullivan was the son of a Western Electric employee and a teacher; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend William Sullivan joined the Augustinian Novitiate in Wisconsin and professed his solemn vows in 1964; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend William Sullivan studied theology at Tolentine College and performed graduate work in American History at DePaul University; and

WHEREAS, On September 23, 1967 the Reverend William Sullivan was ordained an Augustinian priest by Bishop John C. McNabb, O.S.A., at Tolentine College in Olympia Fields, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend William Sullivan currently serves as Associate Pastor of St. Jude Parish where he is widely beloved by all; and

WHEREAS, The holiness, sacrifice and dedication of the Reverend William Sullivan serve as an example to all; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of October, 2017, do hereby congratulate the Reverend William Sullivan on the 50^th Anniversary of his ordinantion and do hereby express our best wishes for his continued good health and happiness; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Reverend William Sullivan.
