RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Eric L. Johnson celebrates his 50th birthday on November 28, 2017. He is the youngest of six children born to Kelly L. Johnson and Lois Johnson (McGruder); and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been informed of this special occasion by the Honorable Matthew O'Shea, Alderman of the 19th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Eric L. Johnson is an enthusiastic, active, and much-loved resident of Chicago's 19th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Eric is cherished by a host of family and friends, including his dear wife Teresa; son, Eric L. Johnson Jr; two brothers, Davon W. Johnson and Jeffery L. Johnson; and three sisters, Cassandra L. Nunez, Leta V. Bassett and Stephanie Y. Lewis-Bennett; and
WHEREAS, Eric graduated from Oakwood Academy and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from Oakwood University in 1990 with a major in Biology; and

WHEREAS, He joined the Chicago Fire Department in 1997 as a Fire Fighter - EMT. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2007 and later to Captain in 2014. He currently is Captain of Engine 80, with over twenty years of ongoing service to the Chicago Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, Eric attends Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he conducts safety presentations and assists the Safety Coordinator. He also has been involved with the Children's ministry for over six years, where he currently serves as Sabbath School teacher for the Beginners Class. In keeping with his love of sports, Eric has played basketball in the Christian Fellowship League for many years; and

WHEREAS, Eric is a devoted father and can often be found taking his son to gymnastics, taekwondo, soccer, swimming, piano and many other activities. Eric is an active parent at Lenart Regional Gifted Center, where his son Eric attends. He serves as a room volunteer, field trip chaperone, lunch room monitor, and book fair volunteer.
