RE: 2018 Aggregate Property Tax Levy
Dear Ms. Valencia:
Pursuant to Section 18-60 of the Illinois Truth in Taxation Law, 35 ILCS 200/18-55 et seq., the City of Chicago Office of Budget and Management has made the following determination regarding the amount of money, exclusive of election costs, estimated to be necessary to be raised by taxation* for the year 2018 upon the taxable property in the City:
The 2018 aggregate property tax levy is $991,434,000 (note that an additional $454,930,000 is levied for debt service)
* The Truth in Taxation Law excludes "debt service levies" from the definition of "aggregate levy," and I include a debt service levy here solely for transparency and completeness.
