RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of Barbara L. Crawford Lee; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Anthony A. Beale, Alderman of the 9th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Barbara was born on January 23, 1933, to the late J.L. Crawford and Angie Lee Floyd in Denver, Colorado; and

WHEREAS, Barbara was united in holy matrimony to the late Robert Q. Lee on September 24, 1955, to their union a son was born, Leonard Aaron; and

WHEREAS, She graduated from Michael Reese Hospital School of Nursing in 1953, going on to take care of special needs children. Her dedication to children remained throughout her career until her retirement from Chicago Public Schools in 1992; and

WHEREAS, Barbara accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She continued her spiritual journey throughout her life, attending. Mt. Olive Baptist Church then later joining Beth Eden Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Richard C. Keller, Sr.; and

WHEREAS, Barbara loved to travel and spend time with her family, and she received a tremendous amount of joy from helping those in need; and

WHEREAS, Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son, Leonard; brother, J.L. (Linda) Crawford; cousins, Roberta Hardimon, Annie Ruth (Van) Beckworth and George W. Harrison; special friends, Flossie Akins and Jack and Tina Norwood; goddaughter Denise Johnson; along with a host of loving family, and friends. Bara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Q. Lee; and

WHEREAS, Barbara touched the lives of all who knew her through her love of Christ, kind heart, and love for others. She will be deeply missed, but memories of her humor and determined spirit will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,


BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby extend our heartfelt ...
