MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR CLINTON NELSON
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of Clinton Nelson on October 11, 2017, at the age of sixty-seven; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Anthony A. Beale, Alderman of the 9th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Clinton was born on June 23, 1950, to the late Albert and Malinda Nelson of Morgan City, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, He later relocated to the Chicago area, marrying Frankie Ray in 1975, together the couple had two children, Clinton D. Nelson and Beverly Nelson; and
WHEREAS, Clinton began his career with the Chicago Park District in 1975 and worked there until his retirement; and
WHEREAS, Clinton leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Frankie Nelson; children, Clinton D. Nelson, Beverly Nelson-Johnson (Lerone) and Alexis Butler; grandchildren, Brittany Terrell (Delrio), Tierra Johnson (Adam), Darell Cobbins, D'Vonta Nelson, Nekeishea Nelson, Amonte Johnson, Kyra Johnson, Racquel, Chaquale, Drew Sanders, Tarnisha, Richard and Jamarion; brothers, Otha (Doris), Roger (Geneva); sister, Linda Lou, two great aunts, sisters-in-law, Pearl Magnolia (James), Dankie, Bessie (George), Dorothy and Rochelle; brothers-in-law, Henry (Mary), Robert and Otis (Grace); along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and
WHEREAS, He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Malinda Nelson; brothers, Matt, Willie, Albert Jr. and Tony; and sisters, Lucille and Louise; and
WHEREAS, Clinton touched the lives of all who knew him through his spirit, kind heart, and love for others. He will be deeply missed, but memories of him will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Clinton Nelson; and
