RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Sandra and Jack Guthman, two outstanding citizens of the City of Chicago, will celebrate the joyful occasion of their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Standard Club in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this special event by Aldermen Edward M. Burke and Brian Hopkins; and
WHEREAS, Sandra and Jack Guthman were married on November 26, 1967 at the Standard Club of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, For fifty years of married life, Sandra and Jack Guthman have endeared in the lives of all who have known them the strength and dignity of generous living; and
WHEREAS, Jack Guthman is a renowned Chicago zoning and land use attorney who served for 17 years as a member of the Chicago Zoning Board of Appeals, the last 12 of those years as its Chairman; and
WHEREAS, Among many other civic and professional responsibilities, Jack Guthman is the Chairman of the Chicago Architecture Biennial, an international exhibition of architecture; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Guthman is the longtime Chair of the Polk Brothers Foundation which partners with other non-profits to reduce poverty, provide Chicago residents with better access to quality education and preventive health care and basic human services; and
WHEREAS, Together with his wife, Jack Guthman has enjoyed collecting art over the past four decades; and
WHEREAS, Sandra and Jack Guthman are richly deserving of our fond and warm wishes as their mark this marital milestone of their Golden Wedding Anniversary; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby extend our heartiest congratulations to Sandra and Jack Guthman on the occasion of their 50th Wedding Anniversary and do hereby declare that November 17, 2017, shall be officially recognized as Sandra and Jack Guthman Day throughout the City of Chicago; and
